Docsafe has been in use for over 20 years and was originally designed to meet a need for accountants who were reluctant to fully embrace the digital revolution – with good reason.

Whilst the first email was sent over 40 years ago, with daily email exchange becoming more commonplace from the late 80s and early 90s, sending incredibly sensitive information via email simply wasn’t considered a professional or secure way to operate.

We created Docsafe as the world was starting to adopt cloud-based technology in the late 1990s and early 2000s. It seems incredible that our early marketing was focused almost entirely on explaining how cloud working worked – how you could access your documents 24/7 as long as you had internet connection. We also had a postcard mailer (that had actual stamps on) to explain how cloud working was better than a courier for sending important files. Cloud working was a real revolution. We mentioned working from the golf course quite a lot.

The wholesale adoption of Docsafe has led to us attracting new users. We work extensively within the financial services, property sector, our loyal accountancy client base and most recently the legal profession. Our solicitor clients were one of the later adopters because they are naturally more cautious and it took a few years for online, digital signatures to achieve legal recognition and sector acceptance.

We no longer have to explain cloud working as the business world has grown and evolved alongside the technologies that kick-started our business. We don’t have to convince anyone that working in a secure portal is the best way to manage private files and personal data. What we do have to address, daily, is the issue of security.

As Docsafe and the digital arena has grown, so has the appetite for online crime. We work hard to constantly keep one step ahead in terms of security and wrap Docsafe in many layers of protection. We regularly introduce new and sophisticated levels of security for Docsafe and its users.

As our user base grows; the product itself showcases new and exciting features; and our security measures keep pace, a new wave of users continue to show an interest. This includes more solicitors, financial advisors and an array of mainstream businesses.
